The aim of the game is to attain a hand of 2 or 3 cards with total value as close to 9 as you can.
The utimate baccarat hand is one that sums nine in the first 2 cards dealt. A sum of 8 would be the next best hand. These 2 hands are known as the the 2 "natural" baccarat hands.
The only hand that will beat a natural eight is a natural nine.
If any player or the dealer has a natural eight or nine, the other players may not draw a 3rd card. If there is a tie, al the bets are called off.
The game differs from Blackjack in that players in baccarat do not need to make decisions during the game. You make your play before the hand is dealt. You can bet with the house, the player, or for a tie.

Ten as well as all face cards count as 0.
IMPORTANT- if you`re dealt a 8 and a 7 the total is 5, not 15. A 4 and an 8 gives a total of 2 not 12, but 1. (You can't have a hand that adds up to more than 9. Anything over 9, you need to subtract 10.
In Baccarat, you'll get 2 cards and the dealer will get 2. If at this stage someone has a natural, no more cards are dealt. Either you win, the dealer wins ot or its a tie).
When the house or the player's hands don't add up to 8 or 9, then additional cards are dealt.
